OUR PARISH MISSION

Christ Church exists to show everyone God loves them unconditionally.

We do that by EXPERIENCING, EMBRACING, AND EXTENDING

God's love.

There are three ways to give to the mission of Christ Church:

you can mail in your pledge, give online, or text GIVE to (850) 403-6673.

When the Heart Waits: Spiritual Direction for Life’s Sacred Questions

by Sue Monk Kidd

Sundays ~ 9:15 AM ~ Rm. 31 of Education Bldg. or by Zoom link here

Meeting ID: 878 4884 3240 Password: 510649

In Matthew’s Gospel Jesus told his disciples, “If any wish to come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Ms. Kidd writes about this denial process in chapter five, “Letting Go.” She writes the intent of this process is, “We’re being asked to nurture the implanted seed of the divine nature and bring it forth in our souls.” This week’s session will be an examination of self-denial.

Daughters of the King

2024 MARCH MADNESS BEGINS!

Lent is here, and as usual we will have our March Madness competition benefiting Episcopal Relief & Development. The "Beehives" won last year and will be defending their title and the new competitor is "Vegetable Gardens" – seeds, tools, and education to enable a family to grow vegetables. This provides nourishing food for a family and extras to sell.

You may purchase either a Beehive or Garden for $100. For many years the price was $80 but inflation has finally entered the picture! Of course, you may make a contribution of any amount; envelopes will be provided in the pews on Sundays. Feel free to take one home, complete the form, and return it with your check to the church. You may also give online here, and choose “outreach” as the fund.  Please note that some of the forms given out this past Sunday had the wrong competitor on them — the 2024 March Madness competition is between Beehives and Vegetable Gardens!

As always, you are encouraged to name your "Beehive" or "Vegetable Garden", and Father Michael will choose and announce the best (funny, witty, liturgical, or outrageous) names from Team Beehive and Team Vegetable Garden on Easter Sunday!

CELEBRATING THE EUCHARIST Ad Orientem IN LENT

Honoring the original architecture of New Christ Church, the Celebrant will celebrate Eucharist ad orientem, “to the East,” during the season of Lent. “But that’s north!” you may say. For more information, please click here.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER DURING SUNDAY WORSHIP

There is power in having someone pray with and for you. During the season of Lent, we will offer this form of short prayer during communion in our chapel. After you receive communion, you may come to the chapel, tell a prayer leader your name and what you would like prayers for that day, and the prayer leader will pray a short prayer for you.

CHRIST CHURCH POPs

Join Christ Church an Episcopal community in Pensacola, Florida for POPping sermons and conversations. ALTAR FLOWER DEDICATIONS

Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. After the Sunday services, the altar flower arrangements are reworked into smaller arrangements. These arrangements are delivered to members of our parish family that are unable to attend a Sunday service. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available here and on the information table in the Parish Hall.

CARE IN COMMUNITY

Christ Church is here for you. There are many ministries to love and support the people who are the church. If you are interested in assisting with staying connected to our church family, please email Rev. Katie or call her at the Parish Office, 850-432-5115. It is easy to feel alone or disconnected, so reach out to one of the priests or someone at the church to say hello. Contact Rev. Katie if you or anyone you know has any needs. If you have a pastoral emergency, please call our pastoral care emergency line to speak directly with one of the priests: (850) 462-5137.
